ABOUT THE AUTHOR

ELAINE MALLON is not an expert on grief – she is empathic and someone who experienced how devastating it is to lose your mother firsthand.  She tried to channel her loss in a way that might provide comfort to others and also bring meaning to her own experience.
It was her mother, Irma, who nurtured Elaine’s love of writing as a child and encouraged her to follow her passion in various ways as an adult.
One Christmas a few years back, Elaine’s mother gave her a copy of “Chicken Soup for the Writer’s Soul:  Stories to Open the Heart and Rekindle the Spirit of Writers.”
She never stopped encouraging Elaine’s writing in all forms.  Just after her mother’s death, Elaine picked up the book and felt her mom telling her it was time to write.
Elaine is an award-winning public relations and marketing veteran who began her professional career in entertainment publicity where she was a publicist for MGM/UA Television and CBS Television, and later became Vice President, Media & Corporate Relations at 20th Century Fox Television.
Elaine currently lives in Los Angeles.  In addition to writing, she facilitates Healing After the Loss of Your Mother – Grief Support, an online group and sacred space for those seeking comfort & community through their loss.
